During my time earning a Graphic Design BFA from Appalachian State University, I used all of the resources available to me to learn as many skills as possible. I immersed myself in everything from alternative photographic processes to interactive online artwork and brought all of these skills back into the design studio. 

Before and after my graduation in December of 2018 I have taken on freelance projects under the name AkB Designs. Working as a freelance designer has given me experience in time management, project organization and working remotely; this also includes communicating effectively and efficiently excessively through online resources.

I began an internship with CAM Raleigh in January of 2019 and during my time there I learned how to create both internal and external materials, ranging from printed pamphlets to digital presentations. This has given me experience in working independently, an understanding of designing within an established branding system and the ability to balance short and long term projects comfortably.

From 2022 to 2025 I worked as the Lead Graphic Designer and Social Media Manager at Value Printing Inc. This position included designing print and digital marketing materials, working with the Junior Designer and Marketing Coordinator positions to construct engaging posts for social media, creating new starting templates for clients to choose from, and applying website content updates for Value Printing. I was also the main designer for client projects, of which can range from 5-30+ a day, that can be anything from template-based to fully customized works. I pride myself on quick turn-around times and the ability to handle multiple projects/responsibilities efficiently and effectively in the fast-paced environment. This position has given me ample experience in designing for print and digital respectively, as well as communicating productively with clients to ensure that the design of their order(s) meets all of their needs without sacrificing turnaround times.

Outside of the office, I enjoy utilizing my passion for design and music by working with local bands to create show fliers, album covers and merchandise. These projects give me the opportunity to experiment with different styles and methods playfully while supporting our local music scene.
